'Hope in the Hunter' Team Getaway

Last weekend the staff from Bella Bodies attended a special weekend in the Hunter Valley to help raise money for the amazing work that Pink Hope does to support women at high risk of Breast and Ovarian Cancer.

Pink Hope was founded by Krystal Barter who is a preventative cancer activist, speaker and author. She discovered her family’s cancer history was not by chance, but due to a gene fault called BRCA1 (the same gene made famous by Angelina Jolie), which predisposes the carrier to a risk of breast and ovarian cancer.

At only 25 and with a husband and young family, Krystal made the difficult decision to break the cycle of cancer that plagued her family. Krystal had a preventative double mastectomy in 2009. Krystal was one of the first Australian women to publicly share her story and preventative surgery, giving a face and awareness to BRCA and prevention. In 2014 at 31, Krystal took the next step in her BRCA journey and had her fallopian tubes and one ovary removed to reduce her risk of ovarian cancer.

Krystal says, “having experienced the isolation and lack of information for high-risk women like me, I decided to be proactive about helping others which lead to me creating Pink Hope. I have made it my personal mission to provide information, resources and support for the high-risk community.

To support this amazing initiative, Girls Getaways runs fantastic weekends away aimed at fundraising to support the amazing work that Pink Hope does. The weekend included a champagne and canape evening with fundraising raffle containing fantastic donated prizes such as weekends away, Bella Bodies gift voucher, Long Lashes gift packs and so much more. Saturday included winery tours and a luncheon where we met some amazing ladies and had a fantastic day. Lucky door prizes and prizes for most creative photo during the weekend made for a truly amazing getaway.

Pink Hope I Hope in the Hunter Getaway

We found that many of the 110 ladies on the trip had been touched by breast cancer in some way, whether it was a friend or family member or they themselves. This weekend provided an amazing opportunity to escape, indulge, relax and connect.  If you ever want to do something for yourself and at the same time contribute to a fantastic cause check out all the getways' that Girls Getaways offers for you and your nearest and dearest.

Bella Bodies is pleased to be a supporter of Pink Hope with funds raised from our recent winter sale, our attendance at the “Hope in the Hunter”, and money donated over the weekend providing support to those who deserve some much needed rest and relaxation.

We are so privileged to support such a great cause and thank all the ladies who helped us achieve this with your continued support for BELLA BODIES and PINKHOPE sale this year.

Much Love,

Paula and Bella Bodies Team
